Laser Friend Environment Green Policy

The Green Award

We intend to supply each customer with The Laser Friend 'GREEN AWARD' certificate. This will be awarded in recognition of your contribution to the economy and the environment by recycling your computer consumables. The award is intended to be hung in your reception as an environmental achievement for all to see.

Over 40 million toner cartridges are imported and sold each year in Europe, a huge 82% of these unless recycled will reach our landfill sites swelling the already vast accumulation of non-biodegradable waste. The amount of plastic waste from discarded toner cartridges is enough to stretch more than half way around the world. An empty toner cartridge represents approximately 1.5Kg of imported non-biodegradable plastic waste. Over the years the waste toner and residue will leak out of the cartridge and wash by rain and natural water movements into rivers and streams affecting plant and marine life. In the same way the water table, which is the source of tap water, may also become contaminated.

Environmental Policy

Laser Friend policy and procedures are as follows:-

  • The company policy is environmentally positive.
  • Staff will be trained on a regular basis in both production and environmental policies and procedures. The management shall lead by example.
  • Take appropriate measures to eliminate emissions into the environment.
  • To undertake all reasonable measures to conserve energy resources.
  • Wherever possible, to re-use rather than throw away, this includes packaging materials which will also be saved and re-used rather than discarded. The disposal of any waste materials will be done in an environmentally responsible manner according to UK and EU legislation.
  • To produce a fully tested recycled product which will equal or exceed the specification and performance of the original equipment manufactured (OEM).
  • To market the recycled product as priority at all times even where the original product is available.
  • To work with United Kingdom Cartridge Recyclers Association and our suppliers to identify and support product developments which have an environmental benefit.

This policy is subject always to the overriding constraint of product quality and customer satisfaction.
